Where and how the Afri-Can Guitar originated.
The native Africans are a very innovative and musical race, as we all know after hearing the amazing rhythms that they have produced over many years.
The forerunner to the Afri-Can guitar was an instrument created out of necessity, for the body of the guitar the aspiring musician used a gourd ( possibly a coconut shell or similar ) and the neck was carved out of any piece of wood that could be cut and shaped, in the early days this instrument was fitted with 4 gut strings and was known as "the Ramkie" This unique instrument has come a long way since those days and Afri-Can guitars has now been established for some 7 years, the current models are still hand crafted in Cape-Town, South-Africa and some of the most influential guitarists/musicians in the world are proud owners of an Afri-Can guitar.
All Afri-can guitar models can be special ordered with custom traditional finishes. If you have a special can we may even be able to create a custom creation of your very own.
